The suffering of chlidren of Bor in long decades in the war time

Merry Christmas and best wish to all Sudanese people around the world, and
inside our Motherland the beautiful Sudan. May Year 2007 be a year of peace for
people of Sudan.
The aim of this article is to draw attention to the security issues facing Bor
People every where in Southern Sudan right now. People of Bor are remarkable
citizens, who have contributed to the history of Sudan since the time of English
in the Sudan, and during the struggle for freedom of all citizens of Sudan in
both Anya Anya I & II.
Our late Leader and hero Dr. John Garang led his successive movement of
SPLA/SPLM with a great contribution from Bor Citizens, young and old, women and
children alike.
The land of Bor had become a battle field for the last 22 years; people of Bor
fled their land entirely during the Bor massacre of 1992. Bor citizens were
forced to live in the internal displaced camps in Equatoria region and
neighboring countries in refugee camps in great numbers, some live in Reng in
Upper Nile and Northern Sudan.
The few survivors, who currently reside in Bor land in the State of Jongulei,
are being terrorized by Murle marauders constantly. The disarmament that took
place in Bor and other part of Jongulei did NOT take place in Pibor County, and
that remain a big QUIESTION to Goevernment of Southern Sudan (GOSS) and the
Government of National Unity (GONU) currently in power, and to the Governor of
Jongulei State, and Commissioners.
Bor Community has distinguished leaders like:
1) Honorable Abel Alier Kuai who currently reside in the Northern Sudan,
2) Our beloved leader and hero, the late Dr. John Garang De Mabior who died for
people of Sudan was a beloved son of Bor Community.
3) Kuol Manyang Juuk who is currently rebuilding Sudan’s infrastructures.
4) Judge Michael Makuei Lueth, as the Attorney General in the GOSS.
5) Madam Nyandeng De Mabior who is also a minister of roads and infrastructure
development in the GOSS.
6) Makuei Deng Majuch who is the head of law enforcement in the GOSS.
7) James Wal Athiu as one of the highest ranking officers in the GOSS Law
Enforcement Community.
8) Philip Thon Leek who is the Governor of Jongulei State.
9) Makeer Thiong Mal in the GONU
10) Makeer Deng Malou in the GONU
11) Makeer Chol Adol in the GOSS
12) Makeer Kur-Lueth in the GOSS
13) Agot Herjok Agot who is currently a minister in the State of Jongulei
14) Philip Thon Nyok as a minister in the State of Jongulei
15) Bior Ajang Duot is one of the highest ranking officers in Southern Sudan
National Army (SPLA).
16) And other Great Sons and Daughters of Bor as distinguished leaders in both
Army and civil services across Sudan.
On behalf of Bor citizens in the Diaspora, I would like to ask you directly as
sons and daughters of Bor Community in higher positions. Though, I don’t
qualify to ask you!
I. Why are Bor people still suffering when Southern Sudan is recovering?
II. Why were Bor people disarmed and not protected?
III. Why do all of you great sons and daughters of Bor disown Bor and start
building your homes in other places like Renk, Juba, Rumbek, Wau, Malakal, or
Khartoum?
IV. How do you expect regular Bor citizens to return to Bor if you are not
there?
V. How do you expect us in the Diaspora to return home and help develop Bor
and Southern Sudan if there is no security in our home?
VI. As English say, charity start at home, why can’t we develop Bor, Jongulei,
and then Southern Sudan, so that there is consistency in our work?
VII. Where do we settle when one of us decides to return to Southern Sudan?
VIII. Why do we always serve Southern Sudan without any returns or benefits to
our most vulnerable people, the women and children of Bor Community?
Please consider doing something to bring stability to the State of Jongulei, not
only for Bor people but also for the Murle, Anyuak, Nuer, and also people who
live, work and for those who visit our beloved State of Jongulei.
To His Excellency Mr. President Salva Kiir Mayardit!
Dear Commander, I have served under your command as young soldier, and I admired
your leadership. Commander, you remember the sacrifices made by all citizens
from all directions of Sudan. But Sire, you also remember the sacrifices made
by sons and daughters of Bor in particular from the105 battalion to the Great
Koryom and the Brave Red Army of Zal zal and beyond.
We fought heroically for the freedom of all in the land of Sudan under your
command along with our late leader and hero Dr. John Garang De Mabior.
Now that you are our President and Commander in Chief, people of Bor need your
help, heroes who are disabled are currently living in the slums of Juba and in
displaced camps without support and many of them are unmarried and will never
get married unless GOSS help them, widows and orphans of our heroes need
security protection and settlement assistance directly from GOSS not UN Sire, in
Bor. Families of our fallen heroes who paid ultimate price for the freedom of
all are now in need of support and protection that only you can provide, and
need to be resettled in Bor instead of displaced camps and other states, those
in Khartoum need to be attracted to come back to Bor as many have returned to
Bhar el Ghazal and other states in Southern Sudan to their grandfathers’ land.
Our late leader Dr. John was not only your partner in leadership, but also a
brother and a friend as we all knew. Sire, we watched you wept on his grave
dearly when he died. We citizens of Bor perceived your courage and resolve
afterward as a promise to your dead brother and a friend to take care of his
widows and orphans, the Bor People.
Bor Community suffered patiently during the movement waiting for peace to come,
but now that peace is here; won’t it be a shame for one of your longtime
supporting communities to continue suffering Sire?
Please address the issue of insecurity in Bor Area, see to it that Murle
marauders and others are disarmed and supported with food and social orientation
to coexist with neighbors peacefully. We sons and daughters of Bor Community in
the Diaspora support your government and will continue to do so, as long as our
people are treated fairly and respectful.
To President of the Republic of Sudan: The Field Marshal Gen. Omar H. Bashir.
Mr. Field Marshal, you have my respect as a soldier, you fought well during our
war in the Southern Sudan. But Sire, your match has died in a mysterious plane
crash, the late Dr. John Garang De Mabior. As a warrior myself, I have learned
NOT to beat my opponent when he is down, I have also learned that great warriors
DO NOT instigate war and instability, once peace is declare a great warrior lay
down his arms and embrace his opponent and reconcile.
Field Marshal Bashir, You have won; your challenger is dead.
1) Why do you continue to terrorize his house?
2) What honor will you gain in fighting a dead man?
3) Aren’t you the president of the whole country now?
4) Won’t it make sense for you to bring a complete peace and development to
Southern Sudan now that your match is dead?
5) Aren’t you the Commander in Chief, why do those under you still violate what
you have signed in the face of the whole word if it’s not your doing?
6) How do you expect to win our trust after two centuries of distrust if you
don’t act fair and now?
We sons and daughters of Bor in the Diaspora have seen the benefit of diversity
and would love to coexist with our brothers in the North regardless of religion,
race, and other social orientations, but it must come from you since you are in
control.
Buying some ministers from Southern Sudan in order to destabilize the GOSS will
NOT help your legacy as a Field Marshal (the highest ranking officer in the
army) and as the current President of the Republic of Sudan in the 21st Century,
and will never succeed.
We want peace and we want it now in Jongulei State, and the whole Southern
Sudan, and in Darfur if you want our respect and support as citizens and rising
intellectuals of Sudan.
We want to come home and start where we were born, and then to the whole region.
We have many skills and traits that Sudan need badly, but we can’t come unless
there is a full democracy and security to all citizens and visitors of Sudan in
our Beloved Motherland and the Heart of Africa, the beautiful Sudan.
This letter is approved and supported by all Bor Citizens in the Diaspora.
